The bye week couldn’t come soon enough for the Patriots with 4 of their first 6 games on the road, and 3 of these teams very serious playoff contenders. Last week was another disappointing week for the defending Super Bowl champions, losing 28-20 to the Denver Broncos at Mile High Stadium. After this much need bye week the Patriots look to have a bit easier of a schedule with 6 of their remaining 10 games at home. They will have some tough opponents, the undefeated Indianapolis Colts is the most notable team, but they are also hosting the struggling New Orleans Saints and New York Jets. But the Patriots are still in first and that’s good news after such a hard start to the season.

The 2-2 Patriots are to face the 3-1 Atlanta Falcons and possibly lose back to back games for the first time since 2002. Unfortunately it looks like it’s going to happen as well. With the injuries the Patriots have had to endure this year, it seems like they no longer have the replaceable parts that they can just stick in to cover up injuries. This weekend will definitely be a test, more so than any other game, to see if the Pats have what it takes.
